A Two-Step Protocol to Combat Dry Winter Skin
In winter the skin is prone to dehydration and dryness due to a lack of humidity in the air and increased exposure to indoor heating and hot water, both of which can strip the skin of its natural oils. Arctic winds and cold temperatures can accelerate this even further, resulting in irritated, chapped, red and flaky skin. Thankfully, following this simple two-step protocol will ensure dewy and plump skin year-round.
STEP ONE: EXFOLIATE
Our skin cells naturally renew themselves in a 30-day cycle. This slows down as we age. Using an EXFOLIATOR in your body care routine speeds up this process, and is especially important in winter because moisture is more likely to be pulled from the skin, causing cells to die off quicker. These dead cells can accumulate on the uppermost layer of the skin, causing a rough and uneven texture. Using a well-formulated exfoliator sloughs away dead skin cells to reveal bright, soft and smooth layers beneath. Our BODY POLISH combines physical and chemical exfoliators (the best of both worlds!) to delicately resurface the skin during WINTER MONTHS.
LUI TIP: It’s best to shower using lukewarm, not piping hot, water in winter. Gently massage a good squeeze of Body Polish onto damp skin in circular motions, paying special attention to extra-dry areas like knees and elbows. Use 2-3 times per week for best results. This is also the perfect skin-prepping treatment for SHAVING, as it opens up the pores and reduces the chance of INGROWN HAIRS.
STEP TWO: HYDRATE
The SKIN’S BARRIER plays a pivotal role in keeping the good stuff (moisture) in and the bad stuff (pollutants and bacteria) out. Nurture and nourish it by applying moisturiser all over your body after each shower or bath. This creates a physical layer on the top of your skin that locks in hydrating ingredients and prevents transepidermal water loss. While lightweight lotions might suffice in summer, in winter it’s best to use an occlusive cream. Our BODY MOISTURISER contains NATURALLY ACTIVE INGREDIENTS and PLANT-BASED OILS for long-lasting hydration.
LUI TIP: Apply your Body Moisturiser while the skin is still damp after stepping out of the shower or bath. When the skin is slightly wet, it is more absorbent. This allows the moisturiser to penetrate the skin more deeply and retain dewiness all day.
