How to: perfectly prep your skin for shaving
A good shave starts with your skin. Prepping it properly can be the difference between a clean, smooth shave and a battle with irritation, razor burn and ingrown hairs. Here’s how to get your skin silky-soft and perfectly prepped before you even pick up your razor.
START WITH STEAM
Whether it’s a warm shower or a soak in the bath, a little bit of heat and steam are your go-to’s when it comes to shaving prep. The warmth helps to soften your hair and open up pores, making it easier for your RAZOR to seamlessly glide across the skin and trim down hairs without tugging at the skin. We recommend aiming for at least five minutes of warmth before you shave. We like to use this time to intentionally cleanse the body and even pop in a hair mask.
EXFOLIATE THE SKIN
Using a body exfoliator before shaving creates the perfect canvas for your Razor. Our skin cells naturally renew around every 28 days, but using EXFOLIATOR speeds up this process to remove dead skin cells and resurface the skin. This step is also essential in helping to prevent INGROWN HAIRS, which occur when hairs become trapped in the follicle and curl back onto themselves. Exfoliator dislodges dirt and debris, allowing hairs to grow up and out of the follicle. Formulated with both PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL exfoliators, our BODY POLISH is the ultimate pre-shave treatment. Focus on areas like legs, underarms and bikini line.

USE A NOURISHING SHAVE CREAM
Shaving doesn’t just remove hair, it also removes the topmost layer of skin. Shave cream acts as a barrier between your skin and your razor, reducing friction and keeping irritation at bay. This is why it’s important to never DRY SHAVE (please, we beg!). Made in Australia by female chemists, our SHAVE CREAM is a performance-driven formulation that works like skincare for the body. Not only does it create slip and glide for your Razor, PLANT-BASED OILS and nourishing ingredients like shea butter recondition the skin.
USE A SHARP, CLEAN RAZOR BLADE
Dull blades are a fast track to nicks, cuts and razor burn. This is because they require multiple passes over the same area of skin to remove hair, resulting in unnecessary friction. Replace your REFILL BLADE regularly (after every 6-8 shaves) and rinse it clean after each pass to keep bacteria and buildup away. A fresh blade glides more easily, requires less pressure and gives you a smoother result with far less risk of any irritation.
MOISTURISE AFTER SHAVING
Lock hydration back into the skin immediately after shaving with a body moisturiser that will seal water content into the skin cells. Keeping your skin soft and supple helps to maintain a smooth finish and prevents post-shave dryness. While your skin is still slightly damp, liberally apply our best-selling BODY MOISTURISER to the skin. Luxuriously nourishing and pH-balanced, it infuses the skin with long-lasting hydration and naturally active ingredients like honeysuckle extract, cloudberry oil, soybean oil and shea butter.
