Here at LUI, we love the idea of rituals: those little everyday practices that help you feel calm, centred and whole. We believe shaving deserves to be part of this self-care routine. In celebration of mindful moments, the LUI Ritual series asks friends of the brand about their own positive habits and how they elevate their day.


HI, MY NAME IS… Olivia Boyd-Smith.


BUT EVERYONE CALLS ME… Liv, Livvy, Olive, OBS - there’s a wide array of nicknames.


WHEN I WAS GROWING UP I DREAMED OF BEING… in my earlier years I had an obsession with small green frogs in my garden, so naturally I wanted to create a company to mind other people's frogs when they went on vacation (I was a very normal child). In my later years I wanted to be a lawyer for Estée Lauder. 


BUT NOW I WORK AS… the Founder and Director of Par Olive, Australia’s number one dermatologist-recommended ingestible beauty brand.


THE FIRST THING I DO WHEN I WAKE UP IS… check my phone, then I mix my morning concoction of aloe vera, l-glutamine, lemon, Par Olive PEARL collagen and shot it down in one grand gulp.


THE LAST SONG I PLAYED ON SPOTIFY… ‘Good Mood' - The Rubens.


MY MORNING ROUTINE IS…


1. Wake up, check my phone for anything urgent (I am trying to eliminate this for the first hour, but so far, not so good).


2. My morning shot mentioned above.

3. Make an oat cortado with one teaspoon of Par Olive PEARL Coconut to make it super creamy, take my supplements (vitamin D, iron and a new Par Olive product coming soon!).


4. Go back to bed with my coffee, write my urgent to-do list for the day, select my podcast of the day, journal. 


5. Meditate for 10 minutes.


THE PERFUME I SPRAY ON RIGHT BEFORE I LEAVE THE HOUSE IS… currently it's Le Labo's Matcha.


MY COFFEE ORDER IS… an oat cortado.

THROUGHOUT MY DAY I FIND JOY IN… loving what I do every single day. I often have to pinch myself that get to do what I feel so passionate about, and truly enjoy every single day. I worked in the corporate world for quite some time, and that was not always the case. I also find so much joy in my daily cardamom bun from La Cabra in Soho and Facetiming my best girlfriends laughing about the current ebbs and flows in each of our lives.


MY LUNCH ORDER IS… a Sweetgreen salad with spinach, wild rice, goats cheese, olives, herb roasted chicken, chickpeas and pesto.


MY 3PM PICK-ME-UP IS… a Par Olive PEARL Matcha and Hu cashew butter chocolate.


AFTER A LONG DAY I SWITCH OFF BY… currently, I’ve been unwinding by getting into bed with my laptop, music on and cruising through vintage homewares stores to fill my new New York apartment.


THE LAST BOOK I COULDN’T PUT DOWN… The Company I Keep by Leonard Lauder.


MY NIGHTTIME ROUTINE IS…


1. Either dinner with friends, or I aim to make two new recipes a week from the New York Times cooking app. I love spending time cooking after a long day as it bookends my work day and enables me to slow my mind. 

2. Light my candles around the house, dry body brush, shower.

3. Skincare routine, Gua Sha, fully body moisturise with LUI Body Moisturiser and pop on my favourite ivory silk sleepwear by Bond Street.

4. Take my sleep magnesium, make a rooibos chai with almond milk and honey, and have a few squares of Hu chocolate (I need to invest at the rate I consume this).

5. Get cosy on my couch with a new series. Read or listen to an audiobook in bed for 15-20 minutes, ensure nothing urgent has come through from Australia, then off to sleep!
