In celebration of mindful moments, the LUI Ritual series asks friends of the brand about their own positive habits and how they elevate their day.
HI, MY NAME IS… Olivia Boyd-Smith.
BUT EVERYONE CALLS ME… Liv, Livvy.
WHEN I WAS GROWING UP I DREAMED OF BEING… In house Legal Counsel for Estée Lauder - I was always fascinated by the beauty industry, but I also needed intellectual stimulation and challenge. I later worked out I’m far too optimistic to be a lawyer.
BUT NOW I WORK AS… Founder and CEO of Par Olive.
THE FIRST THING I DO WHEN I WAKE UP IS… Check my Oura ring sleep and readiness score.
THE LAST SONG I PLAYED ON SPOTIFY… 'Indecision' by Sampha.
MY MORNING ROUTINE IS…
1. Skincare routine, supplements, make a pot of filter coffee with beans from our favourite local roaster Alannahs
2. Sit in the garden and do my morning Open app meditation
3. Make a bowl of steel cut oatmeal with 2 tsp. Par Olive Collagen, and top with organic walnuts, goji berries, blackberries, flaxseeds and raw honey
4. Review my schedule for the day, reply to any urgent meetings
5. Head out the door for 45 minute Pilates class or walk around the neighbourhood
THE PERFUME I SPRAY ON RIGHT BEFORE I LEAVE THE HOUSE IS… Blanche by Byredo.
MY COFFEE ORDER IS… A cortado (also known as a piccolo in Australia with organic whole milk).
THROUGHOUT MY DAY I FIND JOY IN… Sitting in the garden with a cup of filter coffee and listening to a new audiobook. After moving from Manhattan to Los Angeles, it’s a different rhythm. In New York, the energy propels you forward. In LA, the nature, stillness and emphasis on wellness sharpens you in many ways.
MY LUNCH ORDER IS… Summer Hand Rolls by Goop Kitchen, or if I’m in a work pinch I’ll throw together some precooked pieces from the fridge (I always have bone broth rice, 7 minute eggs, shallots and sriracha on hand).
MY 3PM PICK-ME-UP IS… A few squares of Hu Kitchen dark chocolate with sea salt or a bowl of Icelandic Skyr topped with blackberries.
AFTER A LONG DAY I SWITCH OFF BY… Flipping through New York Times Cooking and finding a new recipe to whip up. Taking my time to cook a meal at the end of the day really bookends my day, and I love the ritual of sitting down and connecting with loved ones at the end of the day over a meal.
THE LAST BOOK I COULDN’T PUT DOWN… The School of Life by Alain de Botton - I love how he translates philosophy into something applicable for everyday life - our relationships, work and our own self-awareness.
MY NIGHTTIME ROUTINE IS…
1. Double cleanse and take time completing my nighttime skincare routine with facial and scalp massage.
2. Shower, light exfoliation and a thick layer of the LUI Body Moisturiser.
3. Pop on my newest sleepwear from Le Set.
4. Make a pot of dandelion root tea, add 1 tsp, of the Par Olive Coconut collagen for creaminess, and a touch of honey.
5. Cuddle my partner, turn off my phone and pop on my Oura ring
