6 Ways To Make Your Shave Last Longer

6 Ways To Make Your Shave Last Longer

Shaving is the easiest, quickest and most cost-effective way to remove hair from virtually any part of the body. If you want your smooth and soft skin to last even longer, there are a few tweaks you can make to your existing routine to extend the life of your shave. Read on below to find out how to get the most out of your shave.

1. EXFOLIATE BEFORE SHAVING

Using a BODY EXFOLIATOR before shaving creates a smooth canvas for your RAZOR to seamlessly glide across. Not only does it deeply clear out the pores, thereby reducing the chance of INGROWNS, using an exfoliator also coaxes hairs out of the follicle and pushes them up closer to the surface of the skin. This allows your razor to remove the hair as close to it root as possible, providing a velvet-y finish that lasts longer. Our BODY POLISH is formulated with a mix of both physical and chemical exfoliators (the best of both world!) along with nourishing ingredients like shea butter and soybean oil.

2. USE A FRESH RAZOR BLADE

It should go without saying, but using a CLEAN AND FRESH RAZOR BLADE is essential in ensuring your shave lasts longer. A dull razor blade drags across the skin (ouch), creating unnecessary friction because it requires multiple passes over the same area of skin to achieve a smooth finish. What's more, it just doesn't cut the hair down effectively, which means you'll be left more stubble-y than silky. We recommend replacing your REFILL BLADE after every 6-8 shaves for best results. This will make sure you're protecting yourself from irritation and that your shave is long-lasting.

3. PLAN YOUR SHOWER

Applying a little bit of strategy to your shower can help to make your shave last longer. We love incorporating a shave into our EVERYTHING SHOWER ritual, turning it into an act of self-care. Wait at least a few minutes after hopping into the shower to give the warm water and steam a chance to adequately open up your pores before shaving. By cleansing the body first, and allowing the heat and humidity to work its magic, your hairs become more exposed and softer, making them easier to cut and extending your shave.

4. FOCUS ON TECHNIQUE

Take what you know about shaving and now... forget it. The LUI method is a bit different, but we think it's the most effective in maintaining your shave for days. Begin by shaving with the direction of hair growth to ‘trim’ the hair down as close as possible to the skin. This also gives the skin ample time to moisten and soften. After you’ve done this, then shave against the grain to finish off. The result? Velvet-smooth skin.

5. APPLY SHAVE CREAM

It can be tempting to skip using a shave cream, but please, don't do that. For the record: body wash and hair shampoo is not shave cream! Using a well-formulated product created specifically for shaving gives your razor increased slip and glide. It also creates a nourishing cushion between your razor and your skin, protecting the impact and re-hydrating all in one. We developed our SHAVE CREAM with naturally active ingredients and multivitamins that soften both hair and skin, reducing the friction of your razor and lifting the hair for a closer cut that lasts longer.

6. HYDRATE WITH MOISTURISER

One you step out of the shower, we suggest liberally applying moisturiser while the skin is still damp. This allows all those nourishing ingredients to soak into the skin and penetrate its deepest layers. Body moisturiser not only locks hydration into the skin cells, but it also keeps the skin looking dewy and plump, which makes any stubble or regrowth much less noticeable. Our best-selling BODY MOISTURISER is pH-balanced to support the SKIN'S MICROBIOME and contains SQUALANE and NIACINAMIDE to elevate moisture levels and provide vital nutrients for the SKIN'S BARRIER FUNCTION. An antioxidant-rich blend of honeysuckle extract, cloudberry oil, soybean oil and shea butter soothes and softens for a radiant glow especially after shaving.
