LUI Ritual: Ingrid Kesa
Here at LUI, we love the idea of rituals: those little everyday practices that help you feel calm, centred and whole. We believe shaving deserves to be part of this self-care routine. In celebration of mindful moments, the LUI Ritual series asks friends of the brand about their own positive habits and how they elevate their day.
HI, MY NAME IS… Ingrid Kesa.
BUT EVERYONE CALLS ME… Ingrid or Ingwid (our nieces and nephews).
WHEN I WAS GROWING UP I DREAMED OF BEING… an art curator, fashion designer, movie star, model, nature conservationist, writer, beautician. I had a lot on my plate as an eight-year-old.
BUT NOW I WORK AS… LUI co-founder and qualified yoga teacher.
THE FIRST THING I DO WHEN I WAKE UP IS… get my 10,000 steps in! Starting my morning with a walk is the best thing for my physical and mental health. I am obsessed with my morning routine. In winter, I do my walk at the gym on the treadmill because it's so cold and dark outside. I am an early riser and like to start my day before the rest of the world wakes.
THE LAST SONG I PLAYED ON SPOTIFY… ‘Sprinter' by Dave and Central Cee.
MY MORNING ROUTINE IS…
1. Get in my 10,000 steps.
2. Shower and morning skincare/body care routine, always finished with SPF50+ rain, hail or shine.
3. Drink a coffee in my bathrobe and slippers while I make my boyfriend Nath and I our breakfast and lunches for the day.
4. Make sure my house is as clean and orderly as possible before I leave, so I know that whatever the day throws at me I will have a calm and peaceful space to come back to.
5. Fit check.
THE PERFUME I SPRAY ON RIGHT BEFORE I LEAVE THE HOUSE IS… I have a few on rotation but for winter I am loving Le Labo Thé Noir 29. In summer I wear Ensoleille Moi by Gas Bijoux. It smells like a tropical holiday.
MY COFFEE ORDER IS… almond flat white preferably the size of my head.


THROUGHOUT MY DAY I FIND JOY IN… I am just a girl and the smallest things make me the happiest, like making a delicious and nourishing dinner, feeling calm and centred after a yoga flow, having a good chat with a friend, or playing Uno with my boyfriend before we go to sleep.
MY LUNCH ORDER IS… I prefer packing my own lunch as I like to know I can have a healthy meal wherever I go or whatever I'm doing. Usually this will be a Simsons Pantry High Protein Low Carb filled with lots of salad and roast chicken.
MY 3PM PICK-ME-UP IS… a fresh date (or Loco Love chocolate), crisp apple, green tea or bone broth, a quick walk around the block or moment of meditation.
AFTER A LONG DAY I SWITCH OFF BY… I workout every night: whether it’s running, vinyasa yoga, hot HIIT or reformer pilates. When I get home I love nothing more than preparing dinner, taking an everything shower and getting into a cosy tracksuit.
THE LAST BOOK I COULDN’T PUT DOWN… The Way Forward by Yung Pueblo.
MY NIGHTTIME ROUTINE IS…
1. Run/yoga/pilates/HIIT workout. I must get in a workout at the end of each work day!
2. Cook our dinner; I love cooking Goop-inspired meals.
3. Light a candle or oil burner. The Maison Balzac oils are my fave.
4. My nightly skincare routine, which involves basting myself in hydrating serums and oils.
5. Cuddles on the couch and watching (falling asleep within 7 minutes) a TV show.
THE LAST THING I DO BEFORE BED IS… coat my skin in oil, use my LED mask, take note of what I'm grateful for that day, and tell Nath I love and appreciate him.
