How To Shave Down There

Shaving any part of your body is a personal preference, and this especially rings true when it comes to shaving down there. There’s no right or wrong answer on whether or not to shave your pubic hair - but there is a correct way of going about it. If you do decide to trim, shape or remove it completely, there are a few key things to keep in mind. It’s a sensitive area, so shaving it requires a little extra care and attention so that you’re not left with razor bumps, burn, skin irritation and ingrown hairs.

STEP 1. TRIM YOUR PUBIC HAIR

Trimming the hair before shaving will make things easier once you’re in the shower or bath. Use a clean pair of scissors or an electric trimmer to trim your pubic hair. This will ensure you’re needlessly not going over the same spot multiple times with your razor, which can increase the chance of aggravation.

STEP 2. PREP THE SKIN WITH EXFOLIATION

Use a gentle scrub like our BODY POLISH to delicately exfoliate the pubic area. This is essential in creating a smooth canvas for shaving. Exfoliation reduces the chance of ingrown hairs by removing dead skin cells and clearing out the pores.

STEP 3. OPEN THE FOLLICLE WITH WARM WATER

Soak your pubic area in warm bath water or allow the steam from your shower to help open up the follicles for a few minutes before shaving. This will help the hairs to come out seamlessly when you shave.

STEP 4. LIBERALLY APPLY SHAVE CREAM

It’s absolutely essential to use a shave cream when shaving your pubic area. This creates a physical barrier between the razor and your skin, allowing for slip, glide and hydration therefore minimising the risk of irritation. Our SHAVE CREAM is pH-balanced and packed with nourishing plant-based ingredients.

STEP 5. USE A SHARP, FRESH RAZOR

Using a new razor blade will give you the best chance for an optimal shave. Dull razor blades drag across the skin, creating unnecessary friction and potentially spreading bacteria. A dull razor blade can also cause itching and discomfort. Our REFILL BLADES feature five diamond-sharp blades, enclosed in a moisturising vitamin E cushion, which make for an exceptionally close shave while rehydrating the skin.

STEP 6. SHAVE WITH, AND THEN AGAINST, THE DIRECTION OF HAIR GROWTH

Gently pull the skin taut and shave in the direction of hair growth. Then, rinse your blade and do another stroke in the same area, this time going against the direction of hair growth. This method will provide the closest shave possible. Use short, gentle strokes. The RAZOR has been ergonomically designed to sit comfortably in your hand. The soft-touch grip and perfectly weighted handle provides control and precision.

STEP 7. NOURISH THE AREA WITH MOISTURISER

Protect your skin against moisture loss during shaving by rehydrating with a moisturiser. Our Body Moisturiser is free from alcohol and synthetic dye. It contains super hydrating ingredients like squalane and niacinamide, alongside honeysuckle extract to soothe inflammation and vitamin E to support the skin’s natural barrier.

STEP 8. AVOID WEARING TIGHT CLOTHING

Avoid wearing tight clothing that can cause friction in the freshly-shaved pubic area for at least a few hours after shaving. We prefer to wear natural fibres, like organic cotton and linen, that are breathable and non-toxic.
